It all began with an idea
Flare Education was born with the idea that every high school student should have access to high-quality career experiences
Through his 9+ years of experience working with hundreds of high school students across the San Francisco Bay Area, Ajit - the President and CEO of Flare Education - realized there was a missing opportunity for students and employers to partner on meaningful experiences. He started Flare Education in January 2021 with a 10-year goal in-mind: create 100,000 paid working opportunities for high school students nationally
The Problem We Solve is The Funnel Squeeze
The “squeezing” of high-potential youth from under-resourced backgrounds
The Reality
It’s nearly impossible for a student from an under-resourced background to find a path to a generational wealth-building job
The Result
Only 35% of persistently poor children find consistent employment by the age of 30. Of those that do, 80% work for minimum wage
Only 15% of low-SES high school students have summer learning opportunities
Only 20% of low-SES high school students secure part-time or summer job opportunities
It is 12x harder for low-networked professionals to get working opportunities, according to LinkedIn
Only 52% of high school students feel prepared for jobs in growth industries
High School Students Understand This Reality
Nearly 79% of high school students say they're interested in work-based learning experiences, but only 2% have completed one
Students understand they face an opportunity gap
